Find a Hero Today

Hero: A person of great strength and courage, often Godlike, capable of remarkable bravery.
Favre_2
This image of Brett Favre amidst the battle during a snow drenched game simply reeks of "hero." It’s hard for me to believe that it's been 8 seasons since John Elway hung it up. Growing up in Denver, Elway was a hero and I had the good fortune to share my respect and appreciation with him during and after his playing days.

During Elway's last few seasons (both which ended in Superbowl victories) he'd become a national hero. You didn’t have to like the Bronco’s to be pulling for Elway. It’s the same way with Favre this year—he’s showing great courage and strength. Favre is simply being a hero and I think that’s a great thing. For we need more heroes in this world today. It’s good for what ails us... all of us.

What makes a hero?

Brady Quinn: Don’t Call Him Dumb

B_quinn_dumb

Ill-informed, careless or even ignorant on nutrition, sure… but “dumb” is a little harsh. Even when I know he meant “stupid” not dumb.

If you’ve caught any of the NFL playoffs you may have seen the EAS TV commercial featuring Brady Quinn.

On one hand, I’m happy to see the company formerly known as "the leader" doing something—anything—rather than embrace complete collapse. Still, it feels a bit like a team down by 24 points with three seconds to go  in the game throwing a hail-Mary pass: somewhere between pointless and in denial.

Phil @ Full Strength!

I just read an article at ESPN.com about Phil Mickelson's off-season transformation...

The article says,"Thus, what's left of Lefty is more muscle than usual."
Golf_ap_phil_195
To which Phil adds, "The last three or four months...I immediately lost 20, 25 pounds and put on about 10 to 15 more with muscle from lifting."

I love it... Phil finds a new use for the iron!

I'm happy for Phil - he's an amazing athlete who's been allowing himself to get his ars kicked by "The Tiger" who's arguably the strongest complete athlete in sports.

I'd been reaching out to get Phil some Full Strength - I can attest to it's value in golf, when you really need high quality nutrition, quickly that doesn't weight you down. It's no good to have a meal that will last you for three hours if all you're wanting to do is nap.

And with Full Strength's built-in cognitive (brain) fuel, the way it elevates your focus and energy, it's the perfect fast food for a strong 18. And now that he's taking control of his strength and stamina, it's ever more ideal. If you see him out there, please share a strength with him.

Here's to Phil Starting Strong and Staying Strong! I know Tiger could use the competition.

And the winner is…

Is There Really a Winner and is it Even a Sport?

Did you hear who won the Mr. Olympia contest this past weekend?

No idea?Olympia_photo_2

Good for you.

Neither did I… Heck, I don’t even know where one would find out any way unless they received an email from a friend telling them, which is my excuse. I caught the major morning news today and most all the sports highlights on ESPN last night and not a single word was mentioned.

Does that mean that twisting your body into all sorts of contorted shapes and sizes from the inside is not really a sport? Perhaps a competition? Yeah, sure… like a beauty contest or pumpkin toss, but not a sport.

Nothing personal…I’m sure that the champions of bodybuilding today are real sweet guys with grey matter galore. (Dare I make the same error that has been cast on myself so many times – that “big means dumb.”) ...
